Westchester home destroyed in Earthquake

At 9:06 am PST a magnitude 2.4 earthquake struck the greater Los Angeles area at 33.978°N, 118.413°W. Some occupants of Westchester, an area of west Los Angeles east of Playa del Rey and north of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) experienced a sudden jolt accompanied by a loud noise. No additional tremors were reported. Unfortunately at least one house was not able to withstand the shock. Several factors may have led to the house's collapse including its highly experimental design - outer walls with no interior supports; the quality of the construction - sources confirm that all work was done by non-union unlicensed contractors with little to no house building experience; or the primary materials - a highly questionable choice of graham cracker and cake icing. There were no serious injuries reported although some feelings were hurt.
